CRUFTS 2014
Crufts has always been an amazing show for me (touch wood!) and this year proved no exception. Salo won a very strong Limit Class under judge Stuart Mallard and Sisko won Veteran Bitch, no mean feat given that there were two ex Crufts Champions in the class! Last year Sisko was pipped into second place, so I was especially proud that she took her place back this year!
Crufts is a strange show, talk about pleasure and pain! It's an exciting show, you can't beat the atmosphere or the shopping, but unless you are lucky enough to park in West Car Park, the other car parks are hellish to get to the halls from and the traffic is always a nightmare. This year I even said to myself 'never again' but you can bet I'll be there in 2015 - like childbirth, I will have forgotten the pain by then.....
So why has Crufts always been good for me? Well Sisko won Best Puppy there and her sire, Elbereth Tuukka of TabanyaRuu won Best of Breed back in 2004 and Smuu won her classes . TabanyaRuu Hyppia (Kiva) won Reserve Best Bitch and her sister Peppi, has won Reserve Best Bitch there twice. In fact in 2012, TabanyaRuu made breed history when T. Fiia, her dam T. Peppi and her dam T. Sisko were all in the line up for Best Bitch under Judge Pearl Chetwynd, who declared her Best of Breed to be Sisko and with Peppi taking Reserve spot. Last year my Salo (Lecibsin Salo of T) won Best Puppy and this year his son, T. Nalle Roope also won Best Puppy - so you can see why I love this show, even though I hate it at the same time!
It's lovely to see International dogs competing and to be able to get my hands on them rather than just admiring them online. There is always a jolly atmosphere ringside despite us all taking it very seriously, it is after all, a difficult show to quality for, especially for the puppies.
Here are a selection of photos from the day - my thanks to Mark Treasure, Pia Reynolds and Cat Pashley for the photos.

This is what the judge Stuart Mallard thought of my dogs followed by the critiques for T. Kantri Aleksi & T. Nalle Roope :
LD(7) 1st Mowatt Lecibsin Salo of Tabanyaruu, masculine and of excellent breed type presenting typical outline, his frame is strongly built and he carries strong bone, strength to muzzle with defined stop and breadth to skull, good eye shape and colour giving appealing expression, ears well set, moderately placed shoulders, chest developed, breadth through, moderately defined hindquarters producing sound brisk movement, profuse harsh coat.
VB(5) 1st Mowatt Tabanyaruu Sisko, feminine 9yo of correct type and proportions, head defined yet retaining gender, moderate neck and forehand, good bone and feet, width to back, firmer loin and moderately defined hindquarters, moved well.
2nd Bower & Georgiades Tabanyaruu Kantri Aleksi, typical outline and shown in lovely condition, chest well developed and brisket with depth to just above elbow, preferred shoulders of 1, topline, tailset and carriage to suit, moved steady.
SPD(1) 1st Eaton & Mowatt Tabanyaruu Nalle Roope, raw but promising youngster, needs work and socialising, he pleases for type, head developing well, good stop and ears, eyes marginally round, enough bone into tidy feet, needs to settle on the move, BP.
